Student Council

The student council is an organization through which the students may express their opinions, assist in the administration of the school, and participate in the management of school enterprises. The council promotes leadership, initiative, and self-control among its members.

Each year a president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer are elected to carry on the work the following year, along with three representatives from each grade. It is the duty of the representatives to bring to the council's attention concerns and suggestions from their classmates and to take to their homerooms the actions of the council.

Leo Club

The Leo Club is an organization established to promote community service and responsible citizenship.  Any student is eligible to join the Leo Club.  The Leo Club organizes and participates in a number of community service related activities.  In November, for instance, the Leo Club will organize and cook Thanksgiving Dinners for 25 families in need throughout the county.

Future Farmers of America

FFA is a student organization which aims to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.  The FFA is involved in variety of activities throughout the entire year.  Coudersport's FFA Spud Growers Chapter is a national three-star chapter.

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)

SADD is a student organization which aims to help students avoid making destructive decisions.  SADD does not focus solely on drinking and driving, but on any decision a teenager may make that could be detrimental to their health.  SADD is involved in a variety of activities, including mock accidents, Red Ribbon Week, guest speakers, and elementary school awareness programs.

Varsity Club

Coudersport High School's Varsity Club is an organization established to promote high school athletics.  Any athlete who has obtained a varsity letter is eligible to join.

Jr. High Book Club

The Jr. High Book Club is involved in a variety of activities including, but not limited to, fund raisers, school projects, and field trips to book stores.  All 7th and 8th graders are invited to join the junior high book club.

 

The Outspoken Magazine

The Outspoken magazine club collects the creative writing and artwork of 7th-9th graders.  The students of the Outspoken magazine club also edit and publish this jr. high magazine.  The Outspoken Magazine's motto is, "All the fun's in how you say a thing.", Robert Frost.  All 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students are eligible to join the Outspoken Magazine club.

 

Art Club

The Art Club aims to use the artistic abilities and interests of its members to serve the community and school through the visual arts.  All Sr. High students are welcome to join and can participate in such activities as, painting holiday scenes on windows at the hospital, decorating store fronts, and creating school displays and murals.

 

French Club

The French club is a student organization created to promote the study of French in our high school, to recognize the importance of French as a second language, and to make French visible in our school and community.  All present and former French students are eligible to join the French club, and French III and IV students are strongly encouraged to be active members of the club. The French club organizes cultural field trips and is supported by proceeds from the School Store which they run.

Spanish Club

The Spanish Club is an organization established to promote an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures, and a life long interest in the Spanish language.  Any student currently taking Spanish or has completed through Spanish II is eligible to join the Spanish Club.  The Spanish club is involved in a variety of activities including cultural trips to major metropolitan areas, a candy cane sale, and a Day of the Dead Celebration.
